Os Sonetos Completos (Portuguese Edition)

Os Sonetos Completos is Antero de Quental's "Autobiography of thought," as he called it, tracing the evolution of an individual from a metaphysical pessimism influenced by Hartman and Schopenhauer to a liberating mysticism sustained by the ideas of Hegel. In Antero's works, the idea that the evolution of the world is imanent becomes divine mystery, and the lyric expression of love is explained by the concept of love as the essential metaphysics of existence. The 109 poems in Os Sonetos Completos are drawn from five different periods in Quental's life, were mostly published prior to this volume. This edition also includes 16 additional poems not included in the original publication.
