Funding Ranking 2006
Following on from previous publications in 1997, 2000 and 2003, theDeutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation)presents its fourth "Funding Ranking", an overview of thedistribution of awards to universities and non-university researchinstitutions in Germany. The scope of the report has increasedconsiderably compared to previous editions. Alongside the report'scentral indicator - DFG awards per individual research institution- the document also covers a wide range of additional indicatorsregarding publicly financed research in one of the world's leadingindustrial countries. For the first time, the report also includes information on R&Dfunding for selected federal programmes, for thematic prioritieswithin the European Union's Sixth Framework Programme, and forcollaborative industrial research funded by the German Federationof Industrial Cooperative Research Associations "Otto vonGuericke". The third party funding indicators, which each depictindividual aspects of publicly financed research, represent intotal approximately 80 percent of all public third party fundingfor university research.
