(1888PressRelease) Precious metals offer a safe haven in times of economic turmoil.
(1888PressRelease) MIAMI, FL - It seems like everyone is rushing to buy gold bullion, in fact
investors seem to be falling over themselves in a mad panic to lay their hands on as much gold as
possible. Why is it that precious metals are so attractive as an investment when the economy
seems to be in turmoil?

As a generalization, the price of gold tends to rise as the dollar, and often commodities, fall.
When there is doubt about the future of the economy, - and there is certainly loads of doubt at
present - holding onto cash, which may be devaluing daily is clearly not a good idea. Interest
rates tend to be low, so traditional savings accounts and CDs are not a good idea either since, in
real terms, you are actually losing money. Add inflation to the mix and you are losing money
even faster. Investing in commodities also means you are likely losing money; gold, however,
holds its value. As a precious metal, gold, like other precious metals, has an intrinsic value that
will not depreciate. Unlike paper money, gold and silver are durable and are readily accepted and
traded in any currency; in this way they actually do act like money, but money that does not
devalue. Little wonder then that prudent investors rush to buy gold and silver bullion in times of
economic uncertainty.

"Precious metals bullion is a unique financial instrument," says Bill Hionas, who leads Pan
American Metals of Miami, a precious metals brokerage. "It has an intrinsic value and investors
are buying actual physical bullion, not betting on future prices or buying stock in a company
which could devalue rapidly should there be another recession."

Gold and silver bullion have offered protection against inflation for decades and continue to offer
a safe haven for savvy investors
