INT. OFFICE - MICHELLE'S OFFICE
1
MICHELLE, in her office best spins rocking back and forth in
a chair, having a lively conversation with someone on the
phone.
MICHELLE
This isn't what I paid good money
for.
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
No, no, you fucking listen to me.
You knew the risks.
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
Well fuck you too then.
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
Do you have any idea who the fuck I
am?
KEVIN slowly opens the office door and walks in slowly.
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
No, no, shut up? Do you know who I
am?
Pause.
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
You're damn right I am. Shit.
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
I'll send you a check. Love you
sweetheart, see you at
Thanksgiving.
KEVIN
Am I interrupting something?
MICHELLE
College kids... am I right? You
can't just give them a bag of
condoms and say good luck like the
good old days right?
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
Now adays, it's "I need money for
books." Or "Mom, I'm under
investigation for sexual assault.
Could you send the lawyer?"
KEVIN
Yeah, that's pretty weird.

2.
MICHELLE
Hey, he's not in jail yet. I
consider that a success. But...
What can I do for you? Everyone
seems to want something today.
KEVIN
It's about the payment.
MICHELLE
What about the payment?
KEVIN
It's less than we agreed on.
MICHELLE
I gave you what you're worth.
KEVIN
But...
MICHELLE
We're still a legitimate business.
Running a business is expensive you
know.
KEVIN
You know I'm not just talking about
the legit stuff. Let's be real
here.
MICHELLE
And you know I can't discuss that
shit on the record. Because
everything is legitimate here.
KEVIN
Everyone knows what goes on. You
gotta stop kidding yourself.
MICHELLE
I have to doubt that. I still have
all my limbs. There's a lot of
people out there who hate your
boss.
KEVIN
Well you're going to have to do it
without me.
MICHELLE
So you're going to quit?

3.
KEVIN
I think so.
Michelle laughs.
KEVIN (CONT'D)
What?
MICHELLE
You're not quitting. You have a big
mouth.
KEVIN
I think I am.
MICHELLE
I'm very sorry to hear that.
MICHELLE shoots KEVIN. Then gets up from her desk and walks
over.
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
Why the hell do people do that?
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
Oh well.
GLORIA opens the door quickly.
GLORIA
Another one?
MICHELLE
Another one Gloria...
GLORIA
I'll just make a call... get this
handled before I go.
MICHELLE
Thank you Gloria.
GLORIA
Not a problem. This one was kinda
cute though I gotta say.
MICHELLE
You really get the roller derby
business. Because that's all it is.
Business. You think you can find me
a replacement? I need to go to
Chicago in a few days.

4.
GLORIA
Derby's my life.
MICHELLE
Then you'll find me a replacement.
GLORIA
Yeah. I have a friend that needs a
job. She's a little weird though...
MICHELLE
Jesus Christ... spare me the
details and get her ass in here
tomorrow will you?
GLORIA
Yeah.
MICHELLE
And tell them to spray some
lavender in here. Just make it
smell less like death.
GLORIA
Can do.
2
INT. FAY'S APARTMENT - BEDROOM
2
The light is shining in the small bedroom. FAY's obviously
not in the mood to be up. But she smells something.
FAY
The fuck? Is that bacon?
FAY grabs a robe off the floor and makes her way to the
kitchen.
3
INT. FAY'S APARTMENT - KITCHEN
3
GLORIA, Fay's bubbly best friend is sitting at her table
eating bacon.
GLORIA
And here she is, Fay Thomas! My
bestie!
FAY
It's before 8am. There aren't any
besties. Only mortal enemies.

5.
GLORIA
I have some spectacular news for
you.
FAY
That I still have bacon left?
GLORIA
I'm sorry, did you want some?
FAY
Hell yeah, it was in my damn
fridge. And I thought I changed the
locks on the front door.
GLORIA
I just get in with a crowbar like
last time. Good job on the locks
though. You don't want some
uninvited guests in here.
FAY
Yeah. They could steal all my
bacon.
GLORIA
Come on... Is this the way you
treat someone who gets you a job?
FAY
I'm not dating your cousin who's
fresh out of jail. I don't give a
shit what you're paying.
GLORIA
No, not that. But we'll discuss
that later. He's a good guy really.
Just got caught in a bad situation.
FAY
Oh my God...
GLORIA
I got you a roller derby job.
FAY
No.
GLORIA
Why not? You like to skate, and
they need a new accountant.
FAY
I don't know shit about accounting.

6.
GLORIA
Our last guy didn't know much about
it either.
FAY
What happened to him?
GLORIA
(Nervously)
He retired.
FAY
Retired huh?
GLORIA
Yeah. Come on down to the office.
Michelle is waiting for you.
FAY
Can I at least have some damn bacon
first?
GLORIA
No time! Come on.
FAY grabs her skates from the corner.
FAY
Why do I still hang out with you?
GLORIA
Because you fucking love me.
FAY
Goddammit.
4
EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD STREET - MORNING
4
FAY and GLORIA are skating down the street.
FAY
So why do I want anything to do
with lesbians skating counter
clockwise and trying to injure one
another?
GLORIA
That sounds way too awesome to be
derby.
FAY
But seriously. Why me?

7.
GLORIA
She wants someone who can skate...
you know, to be on the team.
FAY
I like my arms and legs where they
are... attached.
GLORIA
Look, if I don't bring you in
there, I'm gonna look like a
dumbass.
FAY
Your point?
GLORIA
Come on. Just talk to her. Hear her
out.
GLORIA sighs.
GLORIA (CONT'D)
I know you're behind on your rent
too.
FAY
How'd you...?
GLORIA
I go through your mail sometimes.
FAY
Such a good friend you are...
really.
5
INT. OFFICE - MICHELLE'S OFFICE
5
MICHELLE is sitting behind a desk. FAY is on the other side.
MICHELLE
That's a really shitty friend you
got.
FAY
I'm saying.
MICHELLE
But I was looking through your
file...
FAY
I have a file?

8.
MICHELLE
Thank your shitty friend again.
FAY
Great.
MICHELLE
But I do like what I found with my
own research. You've been skating
for a while.
FAY
It's a good means of transportation
around here. You know about the
price of gas.
MICHELLE
Do I ever. The more expensive the
car, the worse it is on gas.
FAY
So what exactly will I do here?
MICHELLE
Well, you're going to do bouts for
me of course. Lot of sponsorship
money and all that jazz. You know
the deal.
FAY
Anything else?
MICHELLE
Just some accounting. Lots of
things on the books that I don't
want on the books.
FAY
Like what?
MICHELLE
Nothing awful. Trust me. Nothing I
haven't done.
FAY
That's not reassuring.
MICHELLE
Do you want the fucking job or not?
FAY
Well...

9.
MICHELLE
Look, I know you have your
concerns. But I can assure you,
this is a well respected
institution. And I have over thirty
years of experience dealing with
this shit. So if you can't trust
me, who can you trust?
Silence.
MICHELLE (CONT'D)
So what's it gonna be?
FAY
God damn it... Sure. If anything
changes, I'll give you a call.
MICHELLE
Splendid. You won't regret it. You
have a fucking job. Celebrate. Go
drink. You have a boyfriend?
FAY
No.
MICHELLE
Not surprised. Looking at your file
and all...
FAY
I'll see you tomorrow then...
alright?
MICHELLE
All right.
FAY looks at the fresh paint on the wall.
FAY
Did you just paint in here?
MICHELLE
Just painted over a couple of
stains. Employees you know.
FAY
Okay then.
FAY leaves.
MICHELLE
She's going to be a pain the ass.
