INT. BATHROOM - DAY
GABRIEL, a 14 year old with dark curly hair, sits in a
grungy bath tub. He has red lipstick on.
After a few moments of complete silence, he starts smacking
himself in the head repeatedly.
INT. BEDROOM - DAY
Gabriel gets dressed. He picks up a rifle and begins pacing
around with it, mock shooting. He stops and points it to a
picture on the wall of him as a child with another girl.
INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY
Gabriel comes downstairs and sees his parents sitting on a
couch. His mother, SHERRY, is passive, disheveled, and not
paying attention. His father, LLOYD, is neat and reading a
newspaper.
LLOYD
Gabe.
Gabriel stops in front of the door.
LLOYD
(teasing)
I'll give ya 10 bucks to dress up
and dance with me.
The entire room ignores him.
INT. KITCHEN - LATER
Gabriel is pouring himself some cereal when he hears his
mother on the phone. A few choice words call his attention.
He becomes quiet.
SHERRY
...if I could just dump one
of
them in the brush and one of
them in the landfill or the
roadside...I don't know. I'd have
to burn their skin so there are no
fingerprints. No, no...Lloyd is the
easy one, it's Gabe I don't know if
I'll be able to get.
Mhm...mhm...yeah, there's a .45
caliber in Lloyd's dresser and a

hunting rifle somewhere in the
house...
Gabriel is now standing in the doorway while she continues.
He's realized she's serious.
SHERRY
They should be loaded, yeah, that
part is already done for me. I just
hope that-
She turns quickly and and stops dead in her tracks when she
sees Gabriel in the doorway. She exits the room.
INT. STUDIO APARTMENT - EVENING
Gabriel is sitting on a bed, shirtless, while another older
boy hangs up Polaroids. His name is WALLACE, a skinny gay
pervert.
WALLACE
Why don't you take off your pants?
GABRIEL
How much?
WALLACE
I'll give you an extra 5 bucks.
Gabriel strips off his pants as Wallace starts taking
pictures of him.
He pulls away from his camera, admiring Gabriel.
WALLACE
(smiles)
I like your look. Do you do this
often?
Gabriel nods. After a moment of awkward silence, he looks up
at Wallace.
GABRIEL
My mother made me a whore.
WALLACE
If I supply the yarn, will she make
me one too?
Gabriel forces a smile. Wallace chuckles and inches closer
to him.

WALLACE
It's getting pretty late.
Gabriel shrugs nervously as Wallace gets even closer and
begins kneading Gabriel's shoulders, causing him to recoil a
bit. He leans in towards Gabriel's face.
WALLACE
(whispers)
You need a place to stay tonight?
Gabriel freezes and looks him dead in the eye. Wallace gives
him an all-knowing look before slowly backing off.
He picks up a book off of the coffee table and thumbs
through it, pacing around in front of his drying pictures.
He checks on them from time to time. Gabriel remains frozen.
INT. STUDIO APARTMENT - MORNING
Gabriel and Wallace are entangled between the sheets of
Wallace's bed. Gabriel stirs.
Casually, he gets out of bed, puts on his clothes, grabs his
payment off of the nightstand, and leaves.
EXT. STREET - DAY
Gabriel walks the street home. A familiar car passes which
causes him to pause. He notices his ex girlfriend, Lainey,
and her father. They glance at him before averting their
eyes instantly.
INT. KITCHEN - DAY
Gabriel enters his kitchen only to be met by Lloyd,
chain-smoking in the dark. Gabriel walks over to the fridge
and grabs the milk and drinks straight from the carton.
GABRIEL
Where's mom?
LLOYD
She's gone. Forever.
Gabriel stares at him. Lloyd refuses eye contact.
LLOYD
Happy birthday.
Gabriel finishes off the milk.

EXT. LAKE - DAY
Gabriel is shooting at a pair of swan with a bow and arrow.
He does this a few times, all unsuccessful.
EXT. STREET - DAY
Gabriel is walking down the street. He passes by dirty
houses and tangled trees. He sees an abandoned building with
the words "I'm Sorry" scrawled on the outside.
He stares at for a moment before passing by.
INT. PET STORE - DAY
Gabriel enters a pet store. The cashier behind the counter
looks up from his magazine and stares him down. He keeps an
eye on him.
Gabriel picks out a white rabbit and brings it to the
counter.
CASHIER
What are you gonna do with this
rabbit, boy?
GABRIEL
It's for my girlfriend.
The cashier laughs aloud and rings him up.
GABRIEL
(quietly)
Fuck you.
The cashier stops laughing instantly. Gabriel ignores him
and exits the store.
EXT. DRIVEWAY - DAY
Gabriel walks up a long driveway. As he gets closer to the
house, Lainey comes out and meets him.
LAINEY
(shy)
Hi, Gabe.
Gabriel nods without speaking.

LAINEY
I like your rabbit.
GABRIEL
It's for you.
LAINEY
It's your birthday, Gabe. You keep
it.
Gabriel stares at the pavement as Lainey waits for a
response.
GABRIEL
I need a favor.
She's hesitant.
GABRIEL
Can I stay over for a few days?
Lainey sighs loudly, as if her expectations were met. She
shakes her head.
LAINEY
I'm sorry Gabe.
EXT. STREET - MOMENTS LATER
Gabriel walks back in the direction in which he came. He
stops once again at the abandoned house and this time goes
in.
INT. ABANDONED HOUSE - MOMENTS LATER
Gabriel sits down on the floor in the dirtied and broken up
home. He pets the rabbit.
