Singing Tips - The Top 10 Singing Tips for Beginners to Advance
Finding out that you can actually carry a tune can mark the start of an exciting new career for
you or it can simply be something you may find yourself enjoying doing during your spare time
alone or with friends. Whatever the case may be, a lot of people who find out that they can
actually sing never go beyond the beginner stage and that is because they do not know how to
properly develop and harness the voice that they have. Here are some singing tips you might
want to try in order to improve on what may be a gold mine in your throat:
1. Practice breathing exercises for singing. A lot of people can actually sing real well but do
not realize that they are overtaxing themselves and their voices because they are not
breathing the right way for singing. Doing breathing exercises for singing will help you
sing better.
2. To improve on pitch problems, practice scales. Scales is the exercise where you start from
a low pitch and slowly go up with each repeat of the exercise.
3. Posture is actually important when you sing. Having the right posture for singing will
help you breathe easier and will help you sing better.
4. Sing within your vocal range. Do not force yourself to sing outside of your range simply
because you think it can be done or it will make you more popular. Straining your voice
on songs that are not in your range can actually damage your vocal chords.
5. Your range may change over time and with practice and patience, you might be able to hit
notes you never hit before. You will need to constantly condition your voice, train and
practice to be able to achieve this in time.
6. Never sacrifice tone for range. If you think that the higher the pitch you reach despite the
rather irritating tone you produce for it means you are a better singer, you are wrong.
Some people may give you singing tips that tell you to try and sing beyond your range to
enable you to hit those high notes. This is wrong. A lot of good singers cannot hit a lot of
very high notes but are still very successful because of the quality and tone of their voice.
7. Warming up before you sing is essential. To properly warm up, don’t start at the lowest
pitch you can manage. Instead, start in the middle, go down, go up then back to mid
8. Pronouncing your words right when you sing also has a bearing on how well you will
sound. You should try to do vowel exercises and pronunciation exercises along with your
other warm up exercises before you sing.

9. Constant practice is the key. If you find your progress somewhat slow, maybe you are not
practicing regularly. If you want to improve your singing faster, devoting half an hour
each day to training can actually do wonders.
10. Never give up. If you find that all of the singing tips you get and the many different
training exercises you find on singing seem to be too much for you, don’t give up - just
tone things down. Do what you think you can do every day and just do that. Little by
little you will soon see improvements.
