VETERINARIAN

A veterinarian (sometimes called a “vet”) is a doctor for
animals. Veterinarians take care of the health of animals.
Veterinarians take care of many different kinds of animals in
many different places. Veterinarians can help decide what
kinds of foods an animal should eat, what shots an animal
needs, and how to help an animal that is sick.

Pet owners use a veterinarian to help take
care of their pets. Veterinarians know how
to take care of dogs, cats, and other small
animals.

Farmers use veterinarians to help take care
of their livestock: pigs, cows, horses, and
the other animals on the farm.

Zoos use veterinarians to help take care of
all the animals in the zoo.

Veterinarians can even help wild animals
that are hurt.
